History of the Establishment
In February 2006, the initial core group for establishment Varastegan Medical Sciences was formed. With insights from education experts, the status of higher education in the country, particularly in non-governmental institutions, was assessed. In September 2006, following the introduction of the board of trustees, and with the aim of utilizing the untapped potential of higher education in both public and private sectors while promoting equal access to educational opportunities, the initial application was submitted to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. A summary of the history of the establishment of various fields of study and the admission of the first group of students can be found in the table below.

The founders of Varastegan Medical Sciences adopted a completely different approach in establishing the first non-governmental higher education center for medical sciences. Guided by a vision beyond financial gain, their primary goal was to create a lasting impact on the academic community by introducing a unique model in medical education.
Over the years, it has become evident to students, faculty, and staff that the founders’ intentions extended far beyond financial concerns. All tuition fees collected from students have been reinvested into the center’s educational, student-related, cultural, and infrastructural needs.
Furthermore, all infrastructural developments and the construction of the center’s buildings have been entirely funded through the personal investments of the founding board members. We aspire for Varastegan to one day be recognized as one of the top medical universities in the country.
